2019 Conclave

Mar 26, 2019

The Art Ferguson Ceremony Ring is the newest addition to the Camp Durant property. Modeled off the Summit Circle in Beckley, West Virginia – the home of the Order of the Arrows National Ceremony Ring. Completely fundraised through donations from the generosity of lodge and community members.

This ring is being constructed to honor the contributions of Art Ferguson. A longtime member of Occoneechee Lodge who has dedicated a majority of his time to ceremonies within the lodge and chapter.  Ferguson advised many lodge, section and national honor teams from Pre-Ordeal to Brotherhood.
  • Fundraising Completion 75% 75%
  • Construction Completion 15% 15%

3 Phases of Construction

Phase 1 - Selection
Phase 1 was the selection of the site and clearing of the land. Our selection committee picked a wooded area not far from the current ceremony rings. This space will be the largest ceremony ring ever constructed on the Occoneechee Scout Reservation property.
Phase 2 - Design & Fundraising
Phase 2 is the major fundraising campaign and designing of the ring.
Fundraising is on going with the production of the Art Ferguson Fundraising Patches which are listed on this page and available for purchase. Donors can also donate directly on this page if they’d prefer to make a donation larger than the patch prices. Additionally, donors who would like to give a monthly contribution are encouraged to contact the trading post below to request a monthly donation invoice.
Designing of the ring was contracted to Heffner Landscaping. As mentioned this ring was modeled off the Summit Circle in Beckley, West Virginia – the home of the Order of the Arrows National Ceremony Ring. Project designs and 3D model renderings can be found below.
Phase 3 - Construction
Phase 3 is the construction of the ceremony ring.  We have finalized the design and signed a contract for construction of the ring, phase 2.  Construction is set to start August 6, with hopes of it being completed by Fall Fellowship.
